첫 번째 추천곡은 밴드 시카고^Chicago의 Wonderful Christmas Time입니다.

객원 보컬로 돌리 파튼^{Dolly Parton}이 참여했습니다.

이 곡의 원곡은 비틀즈의 멤버인 폴 매카트니^{Paul McCartney}가 1979년에 발매했습니다.

원곡은 신시사이저 사운드가 특징인 독특한 캐럴 곡인데, 시카고가 편곡한 버전이 크리스마스와 더 어울리는 느낌이라 가져와봤습니다.

두 번째 추천곡은 크리스 리아^{Chris Rea}의 Driving Home For Christmas입니다.

이 곡은 크리스마스에 고향으로 돌아가는 설렘을 담은 곡으로, 1986년에 발매가 되었습니다.

그리고 1988년에 재녹음이 되었는데, 지금 가져온 버전이 1988년 버전입니다.

제가 이 글을 올리고 약 한 달 후인 2025년 12월 22일에 크리스 리아 님이 별세하셨습니다.

사망 원인(병명)이 무엇인지는 대중들에게 알려져 있지는 않고, 가족들에 의해 '짧은 투병 끝에 세상을 떠났다'라고만 알려졌습니다.

고인의 명복을 빕니다.

마지막 추천곡은 스웨덴 출신의 아카펠라 그룹 더 리얼 그룹^{The Real Group}의 Song From The Snow 입니다.

이 곡은 영화 '해적, 디스코왕 되다'에 수록된 메인 테마 곡입니다.

영화의 첫 시작부터 연주곡으로 흘러나오고, 마지막 씬에서도 흘러나오는 곡이죠.

그리고 더 리얼 그룹 버전뿐만 아니라 이문세 님이 부른 버전이 흘러나오기도 합니다.

이 곡은 '해적, 디스코왕 되다'를 위해서 만들어져서 2002년에 영화가 개봉이 된 후에 더 리얼 그룹의 2003년 앨범인 the real thing에도 마지막 곡으로 실리게 됩니다.

이 영화가 개봉한지 벌써 20년 이상이 흘러서 지금 보기에는 어떨지 모르겠지만, 그 당시 10대였던 저는 재밌게 봤었던 영화입니다.

그런데 이 영화를 좋게 기억하게 된 이유 중에는 분명 메인 테마 곡인 Song From The Snow의 영향도 굉장히 클 것이라고 생각합니다.

마지막 씬에서 흘러나왔던 이 곡은 10대 시절의 저의 감수성을 흔들기에 충분했고, 만약 그때 삽입된 곡이 이 곡이 아닌 다른 곡이었다면 영화를 어떻게 기억하게 됐을지 장담할 수 없었다고 생각합니다.

영화를 추천하는 글은 아니었지만, 지금보다 20년 젊은 한채영, 이정진, 양동근, 임창정의 모습을 보고 싶다면 다른 계절이 아닌 겨울에 꼭 이 영화를 보시길 추천드립니다. (주연급은 아니지만, 이대근, 故 김영애, 김정태, 이혜영도 나옵니다.)

겨울이나 크리스마스를 주제로 한 곡들은 장르를 불문하고 유난히 많습니다.

국내 가요나 일본 음악, 그리고 뉴에이지 연주곡 등에도 겨울을 주제로 한 곡들은 너무 많은데요.
